MobiKwik, mobile payment network entered in hyper local domain by introducing ‘Explore Nearby’ feature in its app, which allows users to find stores, restaurants, cafes that accept payment from Digital Wallet.  Users can also view existing offers at these outlets, and pay via MobiKwik to redeem them.

The feature will also help users locate the nearest cash-loading point for topping up their wallet balance. Last year, Mobikwik has associated with ICICI Bank to enable users to load their mobile wallet through cash deposits. Users can also use some of Mobikwik’s offline retail partners like WHSmith that assist the users to top up their wallet using hard cash.

To launch ‘Explore Nearby’, Mobikwik has partnered with over 10,000 partner retail stores, which includes merchants such as Big Bazaar, Barista, Domino’s Pizza, WHSmith India, Archies, Sagar Ratna, thousands of restaurants and many others.

With this launch, MobiKwik claims to be the mobile wallet with widest acceptance in offline brick-and-mortar stores.

Though Nearby Search is limited to Android App only but company is planning to roll out Windows and iOS version as well.

“Offline is one of the four main focus areas for us. For offline payments, MobiKwik offers two payment options, one follows the normal OTP flow, and the second that we’re pushing in restraurants and other offline retail establishments is ‘Bill Push’, where you just share your phone number, and you get a bill that is pushed to your app,” said Jasjit Singh, Director, Product Management at MobiKwik. “The basic problem that this feature is solving is discovery. Things are very pervasive, everywhere you go, there are places where you could use MobiKwik to pay,” he added.

“With the Explore Nearby feature we are connecting offline retail stores with over 30 million users on our platform. Offline stores can now attract MobiKwik users depending on their location and preferences that could result in higher sales,” Bipin Preet Singh, Founder-CEO of MobiKwik said.
